Dr. Gustavo believes that the implementation of informatics and new technologies in his day to day routine at the office can benefit not only himself, but also his patients.

After graduating from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1996, he was invited to teach dental informatics in many dental schools. His work evolved and he published his first book "Doctor, what is your e-mail?" in 1999. Two years later, together with coworkers from different medical fields, he published his second book called "Internet and Informatics for health care providers".

During his orthodontic graduate years, he began working with digital images, mainly orthodontic digital documentation. His thesis demonstrated that it was possible to apply the famous photographer Freehe´s technique in the orthodontic´s routine, using a digital camera. In 2004, after teaching hundreds of students how to photopraph using digital equipment, he published his third book, "Digital dental photography in orthodontics".
